Colcemid Solution in DPBS
General information
Colcemid
is a commonly used reagent in chromosomal assays, acting as a mitotic inhibitor. Colcemide acts by depolymerizing the microtubules and preventing the formation of a dividing spindle. This stops cell division at the metaphase stage. This allows easy separation of metaphase chromosomes for subsequent cytogenetic analysis.
